David Reid is a respiratory specialist who has been involved in the care of individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) for over 25 years. He currently works in a large adult CF Centre at the Prince Charles Hospital, which provides outreach services over a significant geographical region in Queensland.
David also leads a research team which focuses on the role of biologically active metals (biometals) in lung disease, especially CF related bronchiectasis and has contributed to the literature on mucosaI defences in CF, asthma and COPD. He has multiple national and international collaborators and has been awarded grants with colleagues at the University of Nottingham, UK, University of Otago, New Zealand, The University of Newcastle, Australia and The University of Queensland. His program of research has made major contributions to understanding of the basic immunopathology of inflammation and structural remodelling in airway diseases.
