Your Impact
Since 1945, our brilliant researchers have been dedicated to better understanding tropical diseases, cancers, neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s, and global issues such as malaria and heart disease.
Bold. Brave. Brilliant...Just like our research.
Today, our exceptional people with world-class skills and perseverance, are supported by our exceptional donors with generous hearts and belief in our purpose.
Each day, committed donors like you, help over 650 scientists work on bold discoveries in more than 69 specialised laboratories. Yet, for every $1 we receive in grant funding, we need to find another $1 to make the research happen. The support of loyal donors like you makes sure our vital research continues and has led to some incredible breakthroughs.
Associate Professor Michelle Wykes
‘For over 20 years I have been investigating how our immune systems respond to the challenge of disease. I never thought it would lead to new hope for breast and colorectal cancer treatment. But, the only way this discovery has progressed, is because of the generosity of our community of donors. Just when I lost hope, donors gave over $500,000 to help get this work to the next stage, and now I have restored faith this work will finally make its way to the people who are in desperate need."

Made possible by you
We are honoured you have chosen us as your charity... as we appreciate there are many worthy organisations needing support. We value your commitment and trust.
Clear the air
Dementia is the second leading cause of death for all Australians, and is on track to take number one spot as our leading killer.
Outsmart cancer
The outlook for cancer is now better than ever before and we want the same good outcome for every patient. We are not there yet, and every life matters.
Shine the light on glaucoma
Glaucoma is a heritable disease and comes from both sides of your family. It is a disease that damages the optic nerve which transmits sight pictures to the brain.
Masterswitch
The ‘Masterswitch’ is an antibody that has produced remarkable pre-clinical results against triple-negative breast cancer and the most common form of bowel cancer, Micro Satellite Stable (MSS) bowel cancer.
End Asthma
This game changer for asthma sufferers is an anti-inflammatory protein synthesised from an extraordinary natural product. The parasitic hookworm produces and excretes the protein in an act of self-preservation to repair damage it causes to the gut and prolong the life of its host.
Long Covid
Long COVID is thought to affect between 10-20 percent of those infected with COVID-19. Debilitating long-term symptoms include fatigue, breathlessness, and brain fog. It is a significant global health burden, affecting everyday functioning with many sufferers unable to work or carry out household tasks.
‘When I first heard about the Masterswitch discovery, I couldn’t believe this work was so amazing and yet unfunded. I know I don’t have to be a medical researcher to have an impact on future generations – and that’s why I gave – and keep giving!"
