About

I am a biostatistician with a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health, and a Masters in Biostatistics. I started my career as a research statistician with the Centre for Australian Military and Veterans’ Health, The University of Queensland. Here, I was the lead statistician on the Rwanda Deployment Health Study, and was part of the core research team investigating the health of veterans deployed to Middle East Area of Operations, and families of those deployed to Timor-Leste (the Timor-Leste Family Study). I undertook my doctoral research with the Centre for Longitudinal and Life- Course Research, The University of Queensland, working on multimorbidity, quality of life and health service use using survey and linked hospital admissions data from the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health. I have worked as a research statistician in large cross sectional and longitudinal survey research, cancer and mortality projects, and projects that used linked government collection data. I have also taught statistics at an undergraduate and master’s level at the University of Queensland.

More recently, I have worked as a government statistician in health service planning, leading the analyses of large and complex health service projections for Queensland Health. This includes projections for inpatient activity, renal dialysis services, outpatient services and emergency department services. In this role, I gained experience in using statistics, context in clinical and health service delivery, and data and linkage with governmental and non-governmental sources, to respond to emerging questions in health and the health system. I bring this wealth of experience gained into my current role as a consultant statistician with QIMR Berghofer.
