Holiday Science Program

Looking to get a taste of what it’s like working in a medical research laboratory?

About the program

We host one day workshops during the school holidays where you can gain practical skills related to genetics, infectious disease and blood biology in our purpose built education laboratory.

The program is open to Queensland high school students in years 10, 11 or 12 and is free to attend.

2025 program dates
  • Wednesday 9 April, 2025
  • Wednesday 2 July, 2025
  • Wednesday 1 October, 2025
  • Wednesday 10 December, 2025

Applications are now open for the 9 April program. Applications will close on 17 March and offers sent shortly afterwards.  Applications for the next program date will open immediately afterwards with any unsuccessful applications encouraged to resubmit.

Criteria and selection

To be eligible for the program you must be:

  • an Australian student in years 10, 11 or 12 at an Queensland high-school or college;
  • studying at least one science subject.

Priority is given to students who live outside South-East Queensland, and/or those who have not attended a QIMR Berghofer program in the past.
