National and Global Partnerships

QIMR Berghofer is one of Australia’s most successful medical research institutes, translating discoveries from bench to bedside for a future of better health.

The Institute’s vision is to lead the way to significant innovation in health – nationally and globally. To achieve this, we must leverage the Institute’s world-class infrastructure and capability, and expand our global reach and impact through meaningful and engaged collaborations with the community, industry, government, and other research institutions.

Growth and Partnerships is one of the Institute's strategic pillars, an outward facing function responsible for growing QIMR Berghofer’s research, innovation, and global impact through connecting stakeholders, building innovative models, and maintaining Institute-level partnerships with strategic partners across the public, industry, and academic sectors.

Growth and Partnerships Team

The Growth and Partnerships Team facilitates strategic partnerships with leading institutions and government stakeholders around the world, which foster collaborations that enhance innovation, and contribute to global impact. Our focus is to build QIMR Berghofer’s global profile and reach through strategic engagements with government agencies, education and research institutions, and industry.

The Head of Growth and Partnerships works closely with the Director and CEO to ensure that growth and partnership priorities align with the strategic direction of the Institute. Our Growth and Partnerships team specialises in building an innovative model for strategic priorities, engaged partnership strategies and oversees the development of institution-wide collaborative programs and international partnership agreements.

With a deep understanding of the Institute’s research, innovation and translation capability, we work with external partners to identify mutually beneficial partnership opportunities to achieve impactful outcomes together.

As an outward facing function, the Growth and Partnerships team supports the Institute to:

  • derive and deliver maximum value from and to national and global partners
  • develop innovative strategy for transformational initiatives and implementation plan
  • enhance partnership and stakeholder collaboration across the Institute
  • allow measurement of the impact of partnership initiatives
  • leverage partnerships to continue to strengthen our global impact and brand
  • improve external awareness of the value of partnering with the Institute and the impact and outcomes of collaboration.

The Growth and Partnerships team works closely with the Institute’s Research, Business Development and Philanthropy teams to support growth in these respective areas as a result of strategic engagement initiatives.
